Looking to The Future... Our Affiliates

---

From its founding, Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. has understood that meaningful progress extends beyond the boundaries of Sorority membership. Our Seven Founders were educators who believed deeply in fellowship, growth, service, and creating opportunities that strengthened the communities around them.

That spirit continues through the affiliate groups of Sigma Gamma Rho.

Over the decades, the Sorority has intentionally created opportunities for women and girls of different ages to connect with its mission through mentorship, leadership development, education, fellowship, and community service. These affiliates allow the ideals of Greater Service, Greater Progress to reach across generations and invite others to take an active role in building stronger communities.

Philo means friend.

The Philo Affiliate provides an opportunity for women who are not members of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. to work alongside the Sorority in support of its programs, community service efforts, and ideals.

The history of the Philos dates to 1943, when alumnae chapters recognized the value of partnering with accomplished, civic-minded women who wanted to contribute their talents and service to their communities. What began through local auxiliary groups eventually developed into the nationally organized Philo Affiliate.

Today, Philos continue to serve as valued partners in service, supporting educational and cultural programs, scholarships, community outreach, and other initiatives while developing meaningful friendships and leadership opportunities of their own.

The Rhoer Affiliate reflects Sigma Gamma Rho's longstanding commitment to young people and their development.

Inspired by Founder Mary Lou Allison Gardner Little's love for youth and desire to help them reach their full potential, the Rhoer program provides young women with opportunities for educational enrichment, mentorship, leadership development, cultural awareness, and community service.

Through these experiences, Rhoers are encouraged to discover their strengths, develop confidence and character, learn the importance of service, and prepare themselves to become productive and engaged young women.

The Rhosebud Club is designed for girls ages 8–11, creating an early introduction to confidence, character, friendship, leadership, and service.

Just as a rosebud is nurtured before it fully blooms, Sigma Gamma Rho seeks to provide Rhosebuds with positive, age-appropriate experiences that encourage personal growth, creativity, community awareness, and self-confidence.

Through mentorship, activities, and service, Rhosebuds begin learning that even at a young age, they have something meaningful to contribute to their communities.

As the Emerald Coast Poodles continue our journey toward becoming a chartered alumnae chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc., we are excited about what the future may hold for our community.

Our vision extends beyond forming our chapter. We hope, following chartering and in accordance with the Sorority's affiliate establishment requirements, to cultivate opportunities for Philos, Rhoers, and Rhosebuds here on the Emerald Coast.

We envision women serving alongside us as friends of Sigma, young women discovering their leadership potential, and girls beginning their own journeys of confidence and community service.

For us, growth is not simply about increasing our numbers. It is about expanding our reach, strengthening relationships, developing future leaders, and creating a legacy of Greater Service and Greater Progress across generations.
