The Emerald Coast Poodles are committed to carrying forward Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc.'s legacy of Greater Service, Greater Progress by identifying needs, building meaningful community partnerships, and creating opportunities to serve throughout the Emerald Coast.
Our service reflects the broader mission and initiatives of Sigma Gamma Rho while allowing us to respond to the unique needs of the communities we call home. From education and youth development to health, wellness, water safety, and family support, we believe progress happens when people are willing to show up, work together, and serve with purpose.
Operation BigBookBag
Education creates opportunity. Operation BigBookBag supports school-aged children by providing educational materials, school supplies, equipment, and other resources that help students succeed. Locally, the Emerald Coast Poodles extend this mission through efforts such as our $22 Backpack Sponsorship Drive, helping prepare students in our community for a successful school year.
Swim 1922
Water safety can save lives. Swim 1922 promotes swimming education, water safety, and increased access to aquatic skills, particularly in communities that have historically experienced disparities in swimming participation and drowning rates. The Emerald Coast Poodles support this initiative locally through our partnership with the Emerald Coast Fitness Foundation, where $65 can help sponsor a family.
Women's Wellness Initiative
Healthy women help build healthy families and communities. The Women's Wellness Initiative encourages women to prioritize their physical, mental, and emotional health while increasing awareness of issues that disproportionately affect women, particularly women of color. Areas of focus can include heart health, breast cancer awareness, diabetes, mental health, and intimate and domestic violence.
Project CRADLE Care
Healthy beginnings can shape generations. Project CRADLE Care focuses on maternal and infant health, raising awareness of disparities affecting Black mothers and infants while promoting education, advocacy, resources, and support that contribute to healthier pregnancies, births, and families.
Youth Symposium
Investing in young people is an investment in our future. Sigma Gamma Rho's Youth Symposium creates opportunities to educate and empower youth while addressing challenges that affect their lives and development. Through mentorship, education, leadership development, and community engagement, we seek opportunities to help young people recognize their potential and make healthy, informed choices.
